The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) on Saturday, 2 May 2026, joined dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond at the palace of the Emir of Katsina for the historic and unprecedented turbaning of Alhaji Abubakar Dardisu, FCNA, mni, as Sarkin Mudurun Katsina and District Head of Muduru. The ceremony was followed by a traditional horse-riding procession through Katsina town and a grand reception in Muduru.
The colourful event attracted an array of prominent personalities, including AANI President Emmanuel Obi Okafor mni, members of the AANI Executive Council, Abuja Chapter Chairman Rear Admiral F.O. Isaac (rtd) mni, past AANI President Engr. Muhammed Gambo Umar, members of NIPSS SEC 41, the Governor of Kano State Engr. Abba Kabiru Yusuf, the Governor of Katsina State Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD CON, the Deputy Governor of Katsina State Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe HCIB, the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State Engr. Aminu Usman Gumel, as well as senior diplomats, traditional rulers, and other distinguished guests.
Alhaji Dardisu’s turbaning reflects his longstanding record of public service, professional excellence, and philanthropy. Born on 2 February 1966 in Muduru, Mani Local Government Area of Katsina State, he hails from a distinguished lineage as the great-grandson of Muhammadu Nakadi, the first Sarkin Mudurun Katsina, and grandson of Abubakar Muhammadu Nakadi, the second holder of the title. He is also a descendant of the renowned Islamic scholar, Mallam Muhammadu Shikarawa.
The turbaning underscores his acceptance by the community and positions him to provide leadership for Muduru District, combining historical legacy with contemporary development needs.
AANI congratulates the Sarkin Mudurun Katsina on this well-deserved honour and reiterates its commitment to promoting leadership, unity, and national development.
