Airstrikes on Gaza Hospital Leave 20 Dead, Journalists Among Victims

Those killed in the attack included four medical staff and reporters later identified as Ahed Abu Aziz, Hussam al-Masri, Mariam Dagga, Mohammed Salama, and Moaz Abu Taha. The journalists worked with international outlets such as Middle East Eye, the Associated Press, Al Jazeera, and Reuters.

Eyewitness accounts and video footage from the scene showed two separate strikes. The first hit the area near the hospital, and the second appeared to target rescuers who had rushed to assist victims of the initial blast. “We know that one of the five journalists appears to have been killed in the first air strike, while three others, including a female journalist, were killed in the second,” a local media rights advocate said.

The strikes have drawn condemnation from press freedom groups and humanitarian organizations, who described the attack as a grave violation of international law. Calls are growing for an independent investigation into the targeting of both medical staff and journalists in the line of duty.
