Benue Speaker Dajoh Resigns, Cites Interest of the State

In a resignation letter dated August 24, 2025, Dajoh explained that his decision was made in good faith and in the overall interest of the state. He thanked his colleagues for the trust reposed in him during his tenure as leader of the Assembly.

“I wish to resign my position as Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, effective today. This is in the best interest of our dear state. I remain grateful to my colleagues for giving me the privilege to serve as first among equals,” the letter read in part.

Dajoh, who represents Gboko West Constituency, assured that he would continue to discharge his duties faithfully as a lawmaker.

The Assembly is expected to invoke its standing rules to fill the vacant seat and elect a new Speaker in due course.
