Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reassured soldiers and their families that their welfare will remain a top priority as the Federal Government continues efforts to improve their living conditions.
Oluyede gave the assurance during a three-day working visit to the headquarters of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division in Port Harcourt. He explained that the visit was meant to assess the division’s level of preparedness and to hear directly from the troops about the challenges they face.
Speaking with reporters, the Army Chief said he was particularly concerned about the well-being of personnel and their families. He added that although resources are limited, every effort will be made to address the most pressing needs.
While in Port Harcourt, Oluyede inaugurated several projects within the division. They included the extension of the 6 Division headquarters, the new Python Harmony House, a Guard Room, two new blocks of residential quarters for corporals, renovated family accommodation and the remodeled 29 Battalion Quarter Guard.
He also met with stakeholders from the Niger Delta region, where he emphasized the importance of building stronger ties between the military and local communities in order to maintain peace and stability.
