Speaking in Abuja at the weekend, El-Rufai noted that Nigerians are becoming increasingly frustrated with the current state of the economy, rising insecurity, and what he described as unfulfilled campaign promises. He argued that these challenges have eroded public trust and could make it difficult for the president to retain power.
El-Rufai maintained that leadership must be judged by performance and the ability to deliver on promises. He added that citizens are more politically aware and will likely demand accountability at the polls.
Political observers say his comments could further heighten tensions within the ruling party, as early positioning for 2027 intensifies.
