Federal Government Warns Over Possible Flooding

The alert came in a statement released on Monday by the National Flood Early Warning Centre of the Ministry of Environment. It was signed by Usman Abdullahi Bokani, Director of the Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department.

Communities listed as being at risk include Abba-Kumbo, Mubi and Shelleng in Adamawa; Azare and Jama’a in Bauchi; Ngala in Borno; Nafada in Gombe; Gwaram in Jigawa; Sumaila in Kano; Bindawa, Kaita and Katsina in Katsina State; Makira in Sokoto; and Anka in Zamfara.

Just two days earlier, the department had also issued an advisory predicting possible flooding in seven other states and 25 locations across the country.
