The lawsuit, filed in the United States by Musk’s social media platform X and his artificial intelligence firm xAI, challenges Apple’s decision to integrate OpenAI’s chatbot directly into iPhone operating systems. The filing argues that the exclusive partnership violates competition laws by giving OpenAI an unfair advantage over other developers.
This marks the follow-through on a threat Musk made earlier this month, when he accused Apple of giving OpenAI preferential treatment in its App Store rankings.
Apple has not yet issued a response to the case. OpenAI, however, dismissed the claims, saying the lawsuit reflects what it described as Musk’s ongoing pattern of harassment.
The case is expected to test the boundaries of antitrust enforcement in the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence and mobile technology.
