The commission explained that the affected schools failed to meet its operational standards following personnel audits and financial checks carried out in federal colleges of education. Names of the closed institutions were not disclosed.
The action follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent directive to education regulators to clamp down on unapproved tertiary institutions. Represented by Rakiya Ilyasu of the Federal Ministry of Education, the President stressed that the integrity of Nigeria’s academic system must be safeguarded.
He added that agencies including NYSC, JAMB, NUC, NBTE and NCCE are working together to strengthen quality assurance and eliminate cases of forgery and fake institutions in the education sector.
