The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, announced the decision on Wednesday in Akure during a meeting with school owners from all 18 local government areas.
According to him, the move is part of broader efforts to sanitize the education system and improve standards. He explained that alongside the ban, government will also clamp down on illegal and unregistered schools, enforce re-accreditation of private schools for quality assurance, and introduce new measures to support genuine operators.
Ajibefun stressed that the administration is determined to reposition education in Ondo State, adding that while tough steps are being taken to restore order, private school proprietors will also receive encouragement and assistance through supportive policies.
