Over 500,000 Nigerians Sign Up for Voter Registration in Five Days

Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, represented by National Commissioner May Agbamuche-Mbu, described the figure as proof that citizens are eager to participate in the democratic process.

He noted that the online phase, which began on August 18, will be followed by physical registration from August 25 at 811 centers nationwide, including all local government offices.

To boost turnout, INEC has launched a nationwide sensitization campaign, with roadshows and public engagement in markets and city centers. Yakubu urged young people and eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise, stressing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the key to making their voices heard.
