In a statement on Monday, UN officials expressed deep sorrow over the massacre and extended condolences to the families of the victims. The organization urged Nigerian authorities to carry out a transparent investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The UN also emphasized the need for stronger protection of vulnerable communities in the North East, warning that repeated attacks risk worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Local residents who survived the assault said the attackers stormed the community at night, leaving behind destruction and grief. Aid agencies fear the killings could displace more families already struggling with food shortages and insecurity.
The global body reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria in the fight against terrorism and in providing relief to affected populations.
